Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
