The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
